Vargā said: "O supreme among those of the Bhārata lineage! We were all extremely distressed and sought the refuge of the brāhmaṇa, who was blessed with the power of austerities and never decayed.
वर्गा ने कहा: "हे भरत वंश के श्रेष्ठ! हम सभी अत्यंत व्यथित थे और हमने उस ब्राह्मण की शरण ली, जो तपस्या की शक्ति से संपन्न था और कभी क्षय नहीं होता था।
We said, "O brāhmaṇa! The god of love made us arrogant because of our youth and beauty. We did what should not be done. Please forgive us.

Those who think about dharma are of the view that women should not be slain. You are learned in dharma and because of that dharma, do not kill us.

सर्वभूतेषु धर्मज्ञ मैत्रो ब्राह्मण उच्यते सत्यो भवतु कल्याण एष वादो मनीषिणाम्
O you who are learned in dharma! It is said that a brāhmaṇa is a friend to all beings. Let this saying of the learned come true and bring welfare.
हे धर्म के विद्वानों! ऐसा कहा जाता है कि ब्राह्मण सभी प्राणियों का मित्र होता है। विद्वानों की यह बात सत्य हो और कल्याण हो।
Those who are good protect those who seek their refuge. We have sought refuge with you. You should therefore forgive us."
जो लोग अच्छे हैं वे अपने शरण में आने वालों की रक्षा करते हैं। हमने आपसे शरण मांगी है। इसलिए आपको हमें माफ कर देना चाहिए।”
Vaiśampāyana said: O brave one! At these words the brāhmaṇa, the performer of good deeds and with dharma in his soul, and as resplendent as the sun and the moon, was pacified.
वैशम्पायन ने कहा: हे वीर! इन शब्दों पर अच्छे कर्म करने वाला, आत्मा में धर्म रखने वाला, सूर्य और चंद्रमा के समान तेजस्वी ब्राह्मण शांत हो गया।

ब्राह्मण उवाच शतं सहस्रं विश्वं च सर्वमक्षयवाचकम् परिमाणं शतं त्वेतन्नैतदक्षयवाचकम्
The brāhmaṇa said: "The words hundreds, thousands and forever are always used to indicate eternity. But the word hundred used by me should be understood as a limited period and not as eternity.

O Pārtha! On seeing the devarṣi whose radiance is infinite, all of us were filled with joy. Paying our homages to him, we stood there, with misery on our faces.
हे पार्थ! जिन देवर्षि की कान्ति अनन्त है, उन्हें देखकर हम सब हर्ष से भर गये। उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करते हुए हम चेहरे पर दुख लेकर वहीं खड़े रहे।

स नोऽपृच्छद्दुःखमूलमुक्तवत्यो वयं च तत् श्रुत्वा तच्च यथावृत्तमिदं वचनमब्रवीत्
He asked us the reason for our sorrow and we told him everything. Having heard exactly what had happened, he spoke to us.
उसने हमसे हमारे दुःख का कारण पूछा और हमने उसे सब कुछ बता दिया। जो कुछ हुआ था उसे ठीक-ठीक सुनने के बाद, उन्होंने हमसे बात की।
"There are five tīrtha-s in the southern marshes of the ocean. They are sacred and beautiful. Go there immediately and live there.
"समुद्र के दक्षिणी दलदल में पाँच तीर्थ हैं। वे पवित्र और सुंदर हैं। तुरंत वहाँ जाओ और वहीं रहो।"
Pāṇḍava Dhanañjayā, tiger among men, pure of soul, will certainly arrive there soon and free you from your misery."
पांडव धनंजय, मनुष्यों में बाघ, आत्मा से शुद्ध, निश्चित रूप से शीघ्र ही वहां पहुंचेंगे और तुम्हें तुम्हारे दुख से मुक्त करेंगे।"
O brave one! On hearing these words, all of us came here. O unblemished one! It is true that you have set me free today.
हे वीर! ये शब्द सुनकर हम सब लोग यहाँ आ गये। हे निष्कलंक! यह सच है कि आपने आज मुझे आज़ाद कर दिया है।
But my four friends are still there in the other waters. O brave one! Perform a good deed and set them all free."
लेकिन मेरे चार दोस्त अभी भी दूसरे पानी में हैं। हे वीर! एक अच्छा काम करो और उन सभी को आज़ाद कर दो।"
Vaiśampāyana said: O lord of the earth! Then the brave one, the best of the Pāṇḍava-s, happily freed them all from that curse.
वैशम्पायन ने कहा: हे पृथ्वी के स्वामी! तब पाण्डवों में सर्वश्रेष्ठ वीर ने प्रसन्नतापूर्वक उन सभी को उस श्राप से मुक्त कर दिया।

उत्थाय च जलात्तस्मात्प्रतिलभ्य वपुः स्वकम् तास्तदाप्सरसो राजन्नदृश्यन्त यथा पुरा
O king! On ascending from the waters, the āpsara-s regained their own forms and looked as they had earlier.
हे राजा! पानी से बाहर निकलने पर, अप्सराओं ने अपना रूप पुनः प्राप्त कर लिया और वे पहले जैसी दिखने लगीं।
Purifying those tīrtha-s and permitting them to leave, the lord went to the city of Manalura to see Citrāṅgadā again.
